KINDEREN VAN DE RENAISSANCE
2021, Museum Hof van Busleyden, Mechelen - Belgium
Scenography for Museum Hof Van Busleyden
The concept is based on the idea of interweaving the sense of the spatial experience of the children at the Habsburg court in the scenography.
The Court of Savoy, Margaretha's residential palace where many of them roamed and grew up, therefore deserves the role of a spatial frame of reference. The structure, design, colors and atmosphere of the exhibition are intended to take visitors into a space that exudes the various renaissance elements of the court.
On the one hand, the emphasis is on the integration of the architectural aspect of the palace. The facade and window structure with its compact building volumes and simple recognizable rectangular shapes reappear as the contours of the exhibition space.
On the other hand, an attempt is made to connect the intimate, enclosed atmosphere of the courtly inner rooms with more typical elements from the renaissance painting style. The focus is on the here and now and is translated into a division of spaces that feel orderly, measurable and warm. At the same time, the scenography leaves room for basic geometric shapes, symmetry and central perspectives.
